The Ranches at the Preserve community was established in 1997 and stretches from the northern boundary of Glenwild to the southwest boundary of The Preserve. The Ranches can be accessed through its own private gate located northeast of Jeremy Ranch and The Trails at Jeremy Ranch via Sackett Drive, and also through The Preserve gate located at the intersection of Bitner Ranch Road and West Red Fox Road. The private roads within these gates are shared access for The Ranches and The Preserve community members. (Bitner Ranch Rd is currently privately owned by the residents of Glenwild, The Preserve, Stagecoach Estates, Goshawk and The Ranches at the Preserve).

The Ranches at the Preserve building envelopes are not pre-determined, but must be pre-approved by the community's Design and Land Use Committee. Each parcel may include a 5000-17,500 square foot primary residence, a caretaker cottage, a guest house and a barn structure. Horses are permitted on all properties with approval from the HOA.
